General Johann von Ravenstein, commander of the 21st Panzer Division, was less fortunate: he was captured on 29 November by soldiers of the 2nd New Zealand Division in a confused fight near Sidi Rezegh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At first the prisoner claimed to be a certain Colonel Schmidt, hoping his real rank would go unnoticed.
